About

esget_biggerWelcome! The title of this blog is a play on words – a combination of my name and the theological discipline of eschatology (the study of the last things, i.e., end times). You will find here some of my sermons, along with random commentary on being a pastor in the Missouri Synod, life in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., and my continuing obsession with the Minnesota Vikings. I am the pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Virginia – if you’re a member of Immanuel, you’ll also want to check out our church blog.

A few other things about me: I’ve been married to Kassie (nee Adams) since 1996; I graduated from Hopkins High School (Minnesota) in 1989, from Berklee College (Boston, Mass.) in 1993 (Bachelor of Music), from Concordia Theological Seminary (Fort Wayne, IN) in 1997 (Master of Divinity), and was ordained in 1998 at Bethel Lutheran Church, DuQuoin Illinois. I came to Immanuel in 2001. I also received the Master of Sacred Theology degree at CTSFW in 2005.

    Hey!

I attended Higher Things in Scranton, and I REALLY hope you post your sermon from the Divine Service on Thursday. It was one of the best sermons I’ve ever heard in my life! It is definitely something I’d like to refer back to when I’m feeling like a worthless sinner.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I’m one of the kids you sat with at breakfast and lunch! I also sang the Llama song. I’ll get those pictures on my computer in the next couple of days and email them to you!

Dana, I haven’t stopped thinking about that crazy Llama song – it cracks me up! I’d still like to see those pictures; you can email them to pastor [AT] immanuelalexandria.org.

I’m going to post my sermon eventually, but not until it gets published by HT.

Searching for a college friend from the 1960’s. Martin Naumann, who I have reason to believe is a Lutheran minister. Anyone know of him?

    Hello Pastor Esget!

I haven’t talked to you since Scranton this past summer. I was one of the kids that you had dinner with. How is everything with you? I hope that you are well.

I heard from my father that someone from our church has been attending yours in Alexandria. Her name is Ashley Lyon. Have you had the pleasure of meeting her?

I don’t have much to say! I just thought I would leave a message so that you knew everything was fine with me! I hope to you see you this summer!
