Martin Chemnitz, Loci Theologici, p555:

In the case of our justification, which is the full and perfect acceptance of the believer unto eternal life, certain effects in our life, such as the new obedience, follow rather slowly because of the weakness of our flesh.

    To hear some of our fellow Lutherans talk, we should never even mention "effects" of justification, but just leave well enough alone.

    This fact is so frustrating for a new believer (and what Lewis writes about in Screwtape Letters). They know how much they are changed, but are so weak.
